Functional home office
In our days home office became very popular. More and more people started to work from home and therefore they had to dedicate a space for them to work from. These spaces differ from size, location, some are a separate room, or just a corner of their living room, some are outside of the house, in a shed or a proper garden office.
Planning your home office requires careful consideration of several key factors to create a space that is both functional and conducive to productivity and well-being.
Use your colours wisely
If you have a whole room just for yourself to work from pay attention of the colour you choose for the space. Your interior has to reflect on what sort of feeling you want to bring in your working space. Example: if you want to feel creative and energised use orange or yellow, which are well known to uplift creativity and imagination. For a much more calmer and focused feel choose a green or blue colour. The options are endless, but the feeling you want to achieve gives you a good direction and helps you when it is about to make a decision.
Plan your layout
First thing, draw your room and play with ideas of where to position your existing furniture to have the most benefit from. Best to put your desk facing the door (in Feng Shui this is know as a power position). Try not to push your desk to the wall. Empty wall space will give you a change to hung art, use shelves or bookcases.
When selecting furniture for your home office, prioritise comfort and ergonomics. Choose a desk and chair that provide adequate support and adjustability to prevent discomfort and strain. Ensure that the size of the furniture fits the dimensions of your space to avoid overcrowding and create a comfortable working environment.
Lighting is a crucial aspect of any workspace, as it can significantly impact your mood and productivity. Natural light is ideal for a home office, as it helps reduce eye strain and boosts energy levels. Position your desk near a window to maximise natural light, or invest in task lighting to illuminate specific work areas.
Tidy is the way up
Our brain functions in different, sometimes mystical ways, but everything that surrounds us have an impact to how we feel.. I advise you to have a tidy desk where everything has its own place, drawer, folder, etc.
Maintaining a tidy workspace is essential for productivity and mental well-being. Invest in storage solutions such as shelves, cabinets, or organisers to keep your office clutter-free. A clean and organised workspace can help reduce stress and improve focus, ultimately enhancing your overall work experience.
Add living plants
Living plants not only add a touch of nature and aesthetic appeal to your home office but also provide several advantages for your well-being and productivity.
Benefits of having living plants in your working space are improved air quality, stress reduction, increased productivity, enhanced mood, noise reduction.
By incorporating living plants into your home office design, you can create a harmonious and rejuvenating workspace that promotes well-being, productivity, and overall satisfaction.
Consider adding a variety of indoor plants that are easy to care for and suit the lighting conditions of your workspace to reap the benefits of a greener and more vibrant working environment.
